It's part-and-parcel with freelancing, isn't it? And it sucks when the funds just will not show. I was a mess right before April 15th. I was owed $4200. I received $900 of it. And taxes were DUE. I hadn't done the returns, so I stopped buying even the must-haves. I figured how much I'd paid, how much I had in various accounts, and whether a credit card would have to be employed (I LOATHE credit cards).I was lucky -- I'd paid enough taxes with all the deductions I had. But I'm still in scrimp mode. That wake-up call made me nervous!

Same. Been on the short end of the money train a few times. First, unexpected car expenses (which aren't over yet), then unexpected education expenses (I was planning for those, but they've happened earlier than expected).Luckily, I've been able to ramp up work, but what would have been a cushion is now paying those expenses, so I know that's not a good long term plan.So I'm starting a couple of ventures that are less dependent on my being able to sit at a computer and type. Eventually, that will bring some more balance to my writing life and expenses. :)

I had a similar experience, Devon.
